During March & April 2018 people in Causeway Coast & Glens areas of Cross Glebe, Harpur’s Hill & Cushendall submitted ideas that would benefit their community. It was part of a concept is called Participatory Budgeting (PB) which orginated from Brazil. Waste No Time (WNoT) project team have been developing and piloting PB in the Causeway Coast & Glens area.
Participatory budgeting (PB) – is process of democratic deliberation and decision-making in which communities decide how to allocate part of a municipal or public budget.
Across two celebration family events people in the community voted on which of the 34 fabulous ideas bid got an investment. Both events were very successful showing amazing community spirit and kindness. Although not everyone got an investment everyone was a winner enjoying a great night out.
